    DECEMBER 26, 2025
    Grace Bay, Providenciales

Boxing Day bursts into celebration with Maskanoo, a dazzling street festival that transforms the Grace Bay strip into a swirl of music, movement, and cultural pride. Costumed performers, stilt walkers, local bands, and local vendors line the street, as the sounds of drums, whistles, and cowbells fill the air.

Rooted in African heritage & Bahamian Junkanoo traditions — but distinctly Turks and Caicos in flair — Maskanoo blends live entertainment, dancing, and local artistry into a one-of-a-kind holiday tradition. The festivities kick off in the afternoon with family-friendly performances and street eats, building into an all-out street party by night.

At the heart of it all: the Junkanoo parade, usually held twice throughout the evening. It’s a high-energy procession of vibrant costumes, rhythmic drumming, and infectious joy — a true spectacle of color and national pride.

  • NEW YEAR'S DAY JUNKANOO

    JANUARY 1, 2026
    Downtown, Providenciales

Junkanoo is one of Turks and Caicos’ most powerful cultural traditions — an electrifying street parade rooted in African heritage and the history of Caribbean resistance. Originating during the time when enslaved people were given one day to celebrate freely, it lives on in a night of rhythm, movement, and deep meaning.

Just after midnight on New Year’s Day, downtown Provo comes alive with the “Rush Out” — a high-energy procession led by the iconic We Funk Junkanoo band. Costumed dancers fill the streets to the sound of goatskin drums, cowbells, whistles, and horns, while locals gather for pig roasts, music, and an unforgettable start to the year. Want to learn more? Visit the Junkanoo Museum for a glimpse into the history behind the magic of Junkanoo in the TCI.

There are some island greats missing here — Conch Fest, Crab Fest, Fool’s Regatta, Provo Day to name a few — the kind of beloved festivals we’d love to see make a comeback. And then there are newer standouts, like Twin Island Unity Fest, that we’re still waiting to confirm for this year.
